1. I got 11 out of 20 questions right.
ReplyDelete2. One that puzzled me was the question that asked what Captain Ahab nailed to the ships mass and it was a Spanish gold coin. How can you nail a solid gold coin?
3. I think Moby Dick will not have a happy ending because only Ishmael survives the sinking of the Pequod.
4. He wanted to show everyone the real dangers of the world because ships do sink and many of his other stories can most likely be compared to real life situations.
Question 1) I got 8/20 :(
ReplyDeleteQuestion 2) I was surprised when it said that there are no other survivers when Moby Dick hits the ship. I thought at least a few people would survive.
Question 3) I think they will chase Moby Dick for many days and then they will make him mad, which will cause him to ram into the ship and then everyone will die but a few.
Question 4) I think that Melville's inspiration was the actions of people around him. He would write because he enjoyed the faces of people when they read his books.

ReplyDelete2.The question was: How many days does Ahab and the final men's chase of the white whale will last? I answered 7 days, but it was actually 3. It just surprised me because somehow the whale must've known that the same men were on that boat who tried to capture him before.
3.I think alot of men will die, but I also think that Moby Dick will also die in the end.
4. I think his inspiration for writing was just telling about the real harm whales could do, and this wasn't the only whale harming incident today, or back then.

ReplyDelete2. The one where it said what the cabin boy does, ant the answer was goes insane. I thought he fell over board and was never found.
3. I think it will end by Moby Dick rams into the ship and sinks it then all the crew members trying to kill him will get eaten instead.
4. I think Melville's inspiration was what the whalers might have to go through if this really happened, and what they might do to try and stop it.

ReplyDelete2. I was very surprised when it said that Pip was going to go insane. I thought he would be very excited and adventurous on the Pequod...I guess not. I was also surprised when I found out the voyage only took 3 days to find Moby Dick. You would think it would take a while to find a SPECIFIC whale in the ocean.
3. I think that Captain Ahab will die from Moby Dick. Maybe his other leg will get bitten off. Obviously, the ship gets rammed into by Moby Dick and Ishmael survives. I hope that QeeQee and Starbuck survive with him.
4. I think Melville was inspired because he lived in New York (probably on the coast). Maybe he was always fascinated with the ocean and its creatures. Maybe someone he knew was a whaler. He also wrote another book about sperm whales so he must have a found liking towards them.

ReplyDelete2. One question that puzzled me was Typee meant. I didn't really know what it meant at first, but now I sorta of understand it.
3. I think Moby Dick will end like the sip sinking and only have some people that survived.
4. I think Melville's idea to write this was to show the dangers of how going on a ship and leaving your family can be very dangerous and risk taking.

ReplyDeleteI was surprised by the question that asked, "Who survives the sinking of the Pequod?" It seems that Ahab,Quey Quey, and everyone except Ishmael are going to die.
I think in the end, everyone dies except Ishmael and Ishmael escapes to shore. Everyone is grieved for the loss of the sailors.
I think that Melville was inspired to write this because he wanted to continue off from his other stories.

3.Bad ending because Ishmael is the only one who lives. Ship movies don't end well.

ReplyDelete2. The question/answer that surprised me was that Pip goes insane. I would not have suspected him to go insane in the movie because he was the one that got helped by Ishmael and wanted to become a whaler.
3. I think "Moby Dick" will end with Captain Ahab jumping into the whales mouth and sacrificing himself and then Queequeg will harpoon the mighty beast and they take the whale back to Nantucket and have a giant feast in honor of Captain Ahab.
4. I think Melville's inspiration for writing "Moby Dick" was he lived in Boston and Boston was probably a major whaling spot and he was thinking of ideas for his new book he was about to write and he just saw a whaling go out and he says, "Hey! Maybe I should write a book about a whaling boat and a whale named Moby Dick!" That is how I believe "Moby Dick" was created and the inspiration given to Melville.

3. I think that the mission will be a sucses becuse they most likely kill mobby dick but a fail because the quiz hinted that many people die.

ReplyDelete2.What surprised me was that the Moby Dick rams the Pequod and it sinks,and only 1 person survived not a couple. Another one that surprised me was it only took them 3 days to search for the Moby Dick.
3.Based on the Quiz I don't think they will find Moby Dick.

i think learning about catching on fire because i never had made a fire and it was cool
a big storm because most people know how to protect them self
makeing fires becausde it is exteremly hard to make a fire with out any tools
