  1. 1. I believe that Ji-Li is not really that lucky. I mean she did have her family basically torn apart. She was picked on in school. She wasn't aloud to go and try-out for that one club sort thing. Also the fact that she had da-zi-bao written about her kind of tells you that she isn't lucky. I guess at the beginning of the book she was sort of lucky because most other classmates liked her, she was a star student and what not. But still if what she has is good luck I would absolutely hate to see what her bad luck is!!!! I mean really!!!!!!!!!!

    1. I don't think Ji-Li was lucky at all. At first maybe, but after she finds out her family backround it all goes down hill from there. She gets her house searched her parents are always talking in the bathroom, and her father is arrested. She is even harassed daily at school! I think she was the farthest thing from lucky, but I admire her for keeping her head up and thinking some day it will get better.

  3. 6. I would be mad, because I have a room with my brother who likes to get the room a mess but the way the red guards do it when I got home it would be like 5 clones of him went in there and threw a party or something. Also because I got to pick up a lot of things and then remove what the red guards threw every where.

  4. Question 1.
It depends on what you consider lucky. If you are talking about her grades and things like that then, of course she is lucky. But if you are talking about her families background and how she is treated for that then not at all. To have people not like you because your grandfather who you have never met before was a landlord. To have people search through your home for "four olds" and completely distroy your home is horrible. To not be able to practice your old bielfs. To have people right da-zi-baos about you is horrible also. To see the place where you grew up completely change and not be the customs you grew up with is not lucky at all. So I don't think she is lucky at all in some case.

  5. I chose question 1 and I don't think Ji Li was very lucky because her she was born int a black family not a red family during the Cultural Revolution. There for she has been critisized on a da-zi-bao her house was serched for counterrevolutionary item her father was detained for being a rightest and comiting a counterrevolutionary crime that he wont confess to. Ji Li's uncle was beaten for also commiting a crime. There family had to burn pictures and beutiful clothing because it was four old's the also had to re-paint some traviling bags.

  6. 1. No, I don't think that Ji-li was lucky. She's nice and smart but she has a lot of bad luck. She has a land lord as a grandfather and, her dad is a rightest. She gets made fun of at school for these things and is called a names. Her home gets checked over in the middle of the night by the red guards and they take her old stamp collection.

    1. No because she is in a really bad situation and not a lot of good things are going good for her. Her family is a black family and so that makes it a bad time for her.

  8. 6. I would feel like they're trespassing into my stuff. I would personly not like it at all. I would feel violeted, because I do not like going through my stuff. I would most likely be very sad and very mad.

  9. 1. Ji-Li is not that lucky. she had a bad backround from her father. A then she was gonna try out for something and her fathers backround information intrupted. her granmas husband was a landlord. then they came to search her house for four olds.

  10. 1. Ji-li name means lucky and beautiful in Chinese. It don't seem like she having to much lucky.Because she come from a black family.Well I guess because she had lucky, she through. She had a great family. I am not saying she do have a great her family is just going through a hard time right now.

  11. 1. no I don't think she was lucky because so far her family is in trouble.
    2. no because she was still dependent on him.
    3. Because they thought they could control what ever they want.
    4. There was a da-zi bow about her dating a teacher.
    5.barbies,clothes,food,electronics,& money.
    6. I would feel very uncomfortable.

  12. 1. I don't think Ji Li was lucky at all. I don't think she was lucky because some of the things that has happen to her. Like she gets made fun of because of her dad and grandpas jobs, she doesn't deserve that it's not even her fault! Another thing is that she couldn't do the gymnastics for that company because of her families backround. If she was lucky she would of been able to do the gymnastics and not have to worry about her backround. Another that doesn't make her lucky is that her mom and grandma are both having sickness problems and Ji Li has to help a lot. That is my opinion on how i think Ji Li is not lucky!

    ReplyDelete
  13. 1) A little bit at the begging but after she found out her family class status, things weren't so good. At home it was always getting searched and at school she was always harassed and treated unfairly just because of her black family back round.

  14. 5. I think some of the four olds in the US would be, some of the fast food places including Wendy's, Olive Garden, Thomaso's,and Godfathers pizza. Stores, K-mart, Target, Wal*Mart, and Toys R Us. Lastly Historical sites, I don't know a lot but it would be like destroying history for an example The White House all of the presidents lived there. I think its not fair that they had to destroy four old's or change it because it was too old, like they couldn't do fireworks on the fourth of July when that a holiday! My family would probably have to give up, pictures, books, my brother would have to give up games, clothes, shoes and much more!

  15. 6.If someone wanted to search my house depending on who if it was like the police i would let them without a struggle because i have nothing to hide but if it was some random person i wouldn't want them to because i don't want my stuff stolen

  16. 1.I think she is kind of lucky because both her parents are alive and well and she hasn't been accused of anything yet......
2.At first shes like oh there all so great I wish i could be them and now she dislikes them.
3.Maybe they don't like school and they don't know the teachers like Ji-Li Jiang knows them.
4.Because there was one up about her.
5.Flashy clothes, jewlery, and expensive items and probably my video games and music equipment.
6.Honestly I wouldn't care as long as the pick up when there done.

    1. I dont think shes lucky because she has a bad background because her grandfather was a landlord, her father is a rightist, and her dad was imprisoned. Shes also in the black class status so she isnt respected.

in my honest oppion i don't really think i would care if they searched my home.If they came i would be a little scared but i don't think i will care very much.I just don't see why anyone would want to search peoples house because things in peoples house's are there bissness not other peoples and things there could be family secrets so i personly don't think they had any right to come in her house and go there her stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 6. I would feel violated when they would look through my stuff because I might have some personal things in my room that no one has ever seen. Also if they look through my house, they would have to put everything back from where it was previously. If they don't then I will find them and try to ruin their chances of ever doing that again. They might also possibly steal things and that would make me very angry and that would just be plain rude to do. And if I could choose who would look through my room I would prefer a boy to do it because I don't want girls looking through all of my personal stuff. It would be just straight up weird. But this will never happen unless it's your parents searching through or the police but something like back in the Cultural Revolution would probably never happen again.

  20. 6.I would be like do you have a warrant, but then I would say I'm just kidding and let them in my house for something to drink and why are you searching my house. I put some stuff away, but if they cleaned up after there were done I would not care and I would tell them have good day and then get there license plate number, then report to the cops to check it.

  21. 1. I don't think Ji-Li was very lucky. Mostly because even thought she didn't do anything wrong people treated her really bad. People were really mean to her family. They treated Ji-Li really bad because of her fathers father. They serched her house and took her stamp book, and messed her whole house up. And where we are now they are hurting her family because they think that they are counterrevelutinaries, they wouldn't let her seen her dad after he wasn't aloud to go home because of it.

  22. I chose #5 as my question and it said," what are some four old's and what are four old's." well a four old is a picture of the an ancestor or any past time event in your family or even anything your family had in the past time that has been past down from generations like a necklace or any ring. If you have any of those things the red guards will go into your house and take and burn or through away.

    ReplyDelete
  23. 1. She is not very lucky so far. She is part of a black family which was bad. Her grandfather was a landlord which was bad. People were righting da-zi-bo's about her and her family. People pick on her at her school because her grandfather was a landlord and she is in a black family.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 6. I would be really mad if someone came and searched my house. It's private, not for the government. I mean, to me it would feel like an invasion of privacy. Especially if they searched my room. They wouldn't like it if I came and just ripped apart their house. I can really relate to how Ji-li would have felt in this situation. Even if it was for the "better" of the country, I would really be upset and feel intruded on. It would be really embarassing too, I don't think I'd ever be able to think the same way about the government, if all they're going to do is search through my house if I have nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  25. 6.I would not like it because they would go into my stuff. They would probly break stuff that was past down throw my family because it is old. They would just throw all my stuff on the ground and make a mess. They might find something they dont like and break or take it if they wanted to.

  26. 1. I think she is mostly unlucky but has some luck. Her dad is in jail, which is unlucky. Some luck was that she had no classes in junior high with Du-Hai. Her house was searched by the red guards, which is unlucky. She had a landlord grandpa, which is unlucky.

    ReplyDelete
  27. 6. I would hate to have someone come and search my home because I Might have 4 old items. Plus they might take my family apart and we would never see each other again.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 4. I think that the things that the da-zi-bao said upset her because she didn't agree with the things people were saying on them. And because one of them said stuff about her on it. And because she was in a black family and the stuff on them said bad things about people with a black class status. And a lot of the things that were said on them weren't true about people. And she saw stuff about her friends and teachers on them.

    ReplyDelete
  29. 6: If red guards started searching my house, I would not like it at ALL! If you had personal items that they wouldn't care about and might through away, like they did to Ji-li's scrap book thing, I would feel like violated. Also disrespected and sad because my house is trashed. And that I would have no privacy. Also I would feel judged by my family and by others that were there at the moment. I would HATE IT!

  31. 1. No, I do not think Ji-li is lucky... her dad has been taken away and her mother is sick, and she has a red family. Plus a bad class status.
    2. Yes, I do think that her feeling for Chairman Mao, for all the new rules he has set in, same with The Community Party.
    3. I don't really know, I think because the teacher they have choose to "make-fun" of have hurt them in some way.
    4. They were mean, and some were about her, one had her another teacher on it for having a "relationship."
    5. Well, I think a four-olds for my family would be: our car, and that's all I can think of.
    6. I would feel mad, and sad. I do not think its other peoples right to look through mine or my families stuff (except police).

  32. I did Question 1, I dont think she is very lucking Because she gets made fun of alot at school. And she cant she her dad or talk to him because he hast to stay at work. and the red guards searched her house and took her stamp collection.

  33. 6.if some one wanted to search my house i would be very mad. i do under stand why they did though because they didnt want people to hid bad stuff.or reabel.

  34. 6. I would not like it if someone searched our house. Mostly because that is where I have privacy. Also I wouldn't like someone to tear up our house because it would take a while to clean up. They would probably break a lot of things like pictures frames and breakable plates. Unless it was someone I knew and they didn't make a mess, I still wouldn't like it very much at all. My dad probably wouldn't let the person in unless they were a cop. I could probably trust a cop, but the goverment in many nations is pretty much corrupt.

    ReplyDelete
  35. 6. I will not let a complete stronger come in my house unless their the cops. Also I don't think they should go in the houses unless it's their house. Also I don't wont people in my house unless their friends or family. And I don't wont my stuff stolen. Also I will be mad if that happened to my or other people I know.

4.because some of them were about her and her family
5.Things like legos the flag some dresses and money
6.i wouldnt be too happy because i dont want people going through my stuff and ruining my house

    ReplyDelete
  38. 6. I would hate it because if they found anything that is very old and belonged to one of my deceased family members then they would take it and probably destroy it and then I wouldn't have anything left to remember them by. And they would be going through all of my stuff and there are somethings that are very private to me and that i don't want anyone seeing.

    ReplyDelete
  39. 6. I would feel violated to have my home searched because i have personal items and belongings. Some of the things people have today are considered "four olds" so i don't think my family would make it through a search by the red gaurds and we would probably get our house taken away. In our world today we arent use to having people just walk in our houses because that is considered a crime and people arent use to it. If someone searched my house i would be angry about the things that they take because it could have been a gift or something that is really special to me.I dont think that this could happen to me in this time period but i do think this does happen to other people.

  40. 3. because they weren't as good at school and they felt it was there fault that they weren't learning every thing. They think there the ones in charge now.

    ReplyDelete
  41. 1. I do not think that Ji-li was lucky. She came from a bad family and a bad status. Her grandfather was awritist so that does no good the her status. She got picked on a lot about it. In school she did very well and people would tease her about it, they would say she has a relationship with the teachers. Ji-li was also not very lucky because her dad got captured and they wont let him go until he confeses.

    ReplyDelete
  42. 2. Yes. At first Ji-Li was just like everybody else following the Precious Red Books and following Chairman Mao. She, like everyone else, considered him a god and really looked up to him and the Red Guards. But, during the book once she finds out that she is a member of a black family she starts to realize that she doesn't 100% like what Chairman Mao is doing. She loves her family very much and she just thinks that it is unfair that black families are treated this way. Plus, once she starts seeing more people being humiliated or beaten she starts to worry for her own family.

    ReplyDelete
  43. 6. I would think that they had no business in my house. I would not let them search my house. I would wire it so anyone who touched the door would be badly shocked. If someone searched my house I would feel violated. They would destroy my house even more than it is now, they would take a ton of stuff, and I would miss the good life I have now.

    ReplyDelete
  44. 1. I don't think that Ji-li is lucky because the only reason people began treating her differently after the Cultural Revolution began was because of her family background. She has no control over whether her grandfather was a landlord or not. It also shouldn't matter how her parents act, especially since they aren't doing anything wrong. Nothing that is going on in her family should affect anyone else, so they shouldn't worry about it. I do, however, believe that she was lucky before the Cultural Revolution. She was smart, beautiful and popular. Everybody liked and respected her. The Cultural Revolution completely changed that though.

    ReplyDelete
  45. 1. Yes and no; Ji-li is lucky and not lucky at the same time. I say she ISN'T lucky because she was born into a black family, and she gets made fun of for it. Plus, her dad was detained and now she can't see him. But, at the same time her grandma is still alive, unlike Anyi's. And people in her family aren't being killed or killing themselves. So, even though "Ji-li" means "lucky and beautiful" doesn't mean that Ji-li is... or isn't.

    ReplyDelete
  46. 4. I think she didn't like it because she respected the people they were writing them about and she felt they had respect too. She was also written about in one because she was in a black family and she didn't like that. She felt that the teachers were very kind and did everything they could to give them a better education. Jiang Ji- Li was upset when they wrote one about her aunt because she loved her aunt even though she covered herself up with makeup. While they were hanging the da-zi-bao on her aunt's door she felt really bad and sort of embarrassed so she hid behind the crowd. She disagreed with what her classmates were writing about the people.

    ReplyDelete
  47. 1. I don't think Ji-li is lucky at all. At the beginning so kind of was when she was like "a classroom leader" and everyone looked up to her but that slowly degenerated when the cultural revolution came about and she was thought of as part of a lower-class family and lesser than others.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Mackenzie SteepletonMay 20, 2011 at 12:21 PM

    3. I think the students were so quick to insult Jiang Ji-Li because she was in their class and a easy target. They also might have been jealous that she might have been picked by that red guard girl. Also they knew that her grandfather was a landlord. That's why the kids at her new school don't disrespect her because they don't know her grandfather was a landlord. And that's why i think thy made fun of her.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Im going to answer question six, i would freak out and i wouldn't know what to do because i wouldn't be prepared and its my own stuff so i wouldn't want people getting into my stuff and like taking some of my belongings.I even hate when my sister comes in my room and looks through my stuff or even takes it sometimes if its cool.i understand that's what they have to do but still i would hate to even go through my moms stuff unless i really had to because that's her belongings not mine and i just dont think its right and actually i think its really rude of them and they were sleeping in the book so if i had little kids i would freak out and wouldn't know what to do.

    ReplyDelete
  50. 6. I would really feel violated like all the things I have are no longer just mine. Also it would make me feel curious because I bet they would have some stuff that I have. So I would like to search their home and find out what they have. Kind of good also because you have heard so many things about how peoples houses have been searched so it would feel good to get it off my chest. The only other thing I would feel is scared I mean these people can just walk into your house and search but what else can they do?

    ReplyDelete
  51. 4.The statements made that upset her so much was that she was a teachers favorite and that maybe there was some thing else going on between them. And that she thought she was better than other people because of her grades and how the teachers saw her. I think the reason why the things that were written hurt her so much was because she had helped these people and thought that they were her friends. She couldn't understand how friends could say and assume such mean and harsh things about her.And how they hung it up for many other people to see, and read, and judge her with.

    ReplyDelete
  52. 4. I think the da-zi-bao hurt her feelings because one was written about her and the other one was written about her family.Because her grandfather was a landlord. She gets upset whenever someone will remind her that her grandfather was a landlord. That is one of the four olds. That is why I think she gets mad about the da-zi-bao.

    ReplyDelete
  53. 6. If somebody were going to try to go through my house I would be really scared and not know what to do. I would be like freaking out because its my own stuff and I don't really like people messing with it. I would maybe just go outside and let my parents handle the situation and not get into it. I would be really nervous about if somebody took my stuff because I have a lot of stuff that means a lot to me in my house and if they were going to throw stuff around I would run out of my house or something like that.

    ReplyDelete
  54. 5. The clothes that were passed down by ancesters, respecting your teachers and parents, and also having stamp collections would be counted as fourolds. Also if anything your background would be also counted for fourolds only if you had a black family and not a red one. Also pictures that are important to you and being wealthy is considered a fourold too. Things now would be writing letters, book(especially the bible), wearing wedding dresses that your mom or grandmother has worn, having family pictures of your great-grandmother or any ancesters for that fact would be all considered fourolds.

    ReplyDelete
  55. 1. Ji-Li Jiang was definitely not lucky, she was born into a black category family and all the things she had were the results of hard work (grades, school leader person). She was also born at the time of the Cultural Revolution so the fact that she is in a black category actually makes it bad that she’s better off. In Ji-Li’s personal sense, no, she was born at the wrong spot at the wrong time. If you think about it though, Ji-Li is lucky in the sense of all the things that had to go right for her to be born, aka. Their mother and father had to meet, they had to have some sort of connection and have similarities in their beliefs, etc. Maybe in a weird way because of the Cultural Revolution happening they met at a political meeting and they got married and had children, which then caused Ji-Li to be considered unlucky. Compared to the people who weren’t in a black class category, no she’s not lucky, but when looking at the big picture maybe she was.

    ReplyDelete
  56. 1. I think so far in the story she hasn't been very lucky because she got a da-zi-bao about her, her house was searched, and her dad was taken away. Later in the story something good might happen because when Ji-li and her friend had that piece of paper with things wrote on them it said some good some bad things will happen.

    ReplyDelete
  57. 1. I don`t think Ji-li is lucky at all because of all the things happening to her, but I bet she is beautiful and that is a true statement. 2. I think her opinions change through out the whole book because she is not old enough to understand, and she is confused sometimes on what is right and what is wrong. 3. They embraced it quickly because that is what there leader said to do and they think what ever Mao says is right. Some did not take it in so quickly because some kids actually like there teachers. 4.Because she didn`t want to write bad things about the people she liked. 5.the four olds would be signs on buildings. Things in my house would be pictures and my C.D`s because they have to be knew. My letters from a friend of mine.6.If someone were to search my room I would feel like my personal space had just been introduced to aliens and they might laugh or tell things that I`m not or they might comment on things I might not want to talk about.

  58. 6. I think I would be flipping out if I saw somebody in my house when I got home after school and I would be asking why and who are they? The only reason why I wouldn't be screaming and running around like a chicken after it gets its head cut off unless somebody gave me a good enough long explanation to why they are there and what are doing and if they didn't I think I would get a knife and stab them about a billion times.

  59. 1.j I don't think Ji-Li is lucky. I think Ji-Li was lucky at the begining of the book becouse every one liked her. But as the story went on her luck kept getting worse and worse. I think she was unlucky because her father was arrested and she only got to see him once so far. I also think she is unlucky because she got a doa - zi - bao about her. she is also unlucky because she was put in a black catigory. Really the only lucky thing that happend was when she forgot her red book but she found some thing to hold that looked like the little red book I guse that was sorta lucky...

At some points in the story I think that Ji-li was lucky. And in some points I don't think that she was very lucky. One point were I think she wasn't lucky was when they took her stamp album. One part when I think she was lucky was when the Red Guards came to her house and they didn't do anything bad to her or her family, besides take there things. Another one was when they let her see her father and not make her go back home.

    ReplyDelete
  67. 6.I would be mad. Because if i had something very valuable to me and the through it on the ground and then just took it. I would be yelling at them to give it back. I would also feel sad because there just throwing everything onto the ground. Then I would have to pick it up the next day and that would be really boring.

  68. 1.I don't think she was lucky at all if she was they would not be personally effected by the Revolution and her dad would no be detained.
Her mom would be all right and her family would be still going on with their regular lives.

  69. I think that she is very unlucky. Because she was born into a black family. Her class status is really bad and thats not her fault. Her grandfather was a land lord and killed him self.

  70. I chose question 6. I wouldn't like if someone searched my house because i hate when people mess with my stuff or mess up my room because than i have to clean it and if someone touches my stuff and doesn't put it back where it was makes me mad because if someone is going to touch your stuff than put it back it's not that hard. And exspecially if someone ad to search your house and you had no choose than i would be okay with it because i understand that you have to let them.

  71. 3. I think they quickly caught on to considering that there teachers were Four Olds because they might not like the teacher for giving them a bad grade on something so this was probably one way to get back at them. They probably liked this idea of Four Olds so they didn't have to learn about old people of old things. If they did like the teacher they probably wouldn't rat on the teacher so much because they like them or there young. But if the teacher was old and they didn't like them it made all them more better to rat on them for being old. But if they were a history teacher and old that would be like the perfect teacher to rat on if I were in the Cultural Revolution.

  72. I picked question number 6 and I would feel violated if someone came and searched my house because they would be going through all of your stuff and somethings are personal but they wouldn't care my little sisters would probably be scared and I would be mad if they had no reason to come in your house then they shouldn't go through your stuff and throw away things that they think were old because they wouldn't like it if we did that to them I just would not be very happy at all.

  74. 3. I think the students turned on their teachers because they had bad grades or did not like school. I think that because only the students who did poorly in school turned against their teachers. The students who did good did not feel the same way about their teachers. Ji-Li did not want to think of her teachers as counterrevolutionary monsters. If you really think about it a lot of kids would jump at the opportunity to boss teachers around.

  75. I would be very mad if someone searched my house. When they searched Ji-li's house, they had to take away things that could be considered 4 olds. those would be the coolest things such as family photo albums. In RSG, they also made a mess of the house, and they tipped some things over and broke them. I would be very irritated if someone tore apart my house.

  76. #3 I think that some of Ji-Li's friends were so quick to criticize the teachers because they didn't like them or had bad grades and thought they should have a different grade. I also think that they think it was an opportunity for them to get back at their teachers for something that the kids think the teachers did wrong. They also probably thought that they could get away with anything if they did this. Most of the kids who probably started the kids criticizing the teachers were mostly bad students. Another reason might be that they felt they wouldn't get in trouble is they did what other students did. Another possibility might be that they might have thought they were cool when they did it, like, "Hey I am hurting someone else, now am I cool?" And they thought they would be considered cool. I know if I lived in that time period in China, I could never do that to the teachers who put their love and life into helping us become what we will be in the future, i still can't believe that the kids did that after all the things the teachers have done for them.

  77. How would you feel if someone wanted to search your home? I would feel sad and mad that strangers are going through our stuff. If we came home and some stranger was in my room going through my stuff i would be mad because some of the stuff I have is special to me. If they were throwing my stuff then I would have to pick it up and that does not sound fun to me.

  78. 2. I think that over the course of the story her opinion about the communist party does change. In the story it talks about different things that are happening that she doesn't like. But in the story she's trying to play it off. Like when her house gets searched, she's just like, its okay, there just getting rid of our "four olds" so we can live like how chairman Moa wants us to. Or when the Da Zi Boas get written, and one talks about her, I think that changed her oppinion a bit. Because you can just tell by reading the book that slowly her thoughts about the communist party is changing. You can just tell that its bothering her. I really like the book so far and hope we can finish it before school is over.

I would feel vary violated because I have somethings in my home that are vary privite to me and if they just came in and looked at it or destroed it I would be vary mad at them for doing that. And I would be even more mad if I didn't do anything to make them do that.

  80. 5. four-olds would be foreign books and other foreign objects, being rich, being a landlord, and having a bike.
In my family for Christmas my uncle gives my sister and I money from other countrys because for his job he travels. Also we have an electric typewriter from my moms work. We also have an entire library in our living room so if books were illegal we would be in BIG trouble.

#1.Consider that "Ji-li" means "lucky and beautiful" in Chinese. Do you think Ji-li was lucky?
Ji-Li is lucky in some ways she has a roof over her head, and clothes to wear, warm food to eat, and a family who loves her. But Ji-Li is unlucky because her family is being judged just because some man she never met (her grandpa) was a landlord. She is also unlucky because people think her dad is a rightist and they took him away. So Ji-Li is lucky that she does not have to starve and she is warm but she is also unlucky because her family is being treated very wrong but everyone thinks they are treating them right.

  82. I think people liked to attack teachers for the sane reason they like to today. Authority figures can be anoying because we want to be in control and be right all the time and they are here to tell us were wrong and they are in control so its easy to dislike you're athorities .

I would hate for someone to search my house. The only sad thing is is that I wouldn't even know if they searched my room. It is very messy. It's only okay if I mess it up. My mom also has many decorations they look old and ugly-i wouldn't mind if they took those but that is it. they would probably just rip the house down. Its like 50yrs old.

  84. 6. I would not want to have somebody go through my house that I didn't know. I would hid my stuff like special stuff under a floor board and then pick it back up after they are gone. I have stuff like my pictures that I don't want people that I don't know looking through my DRESSER! that is just wrong because it's not your house. I would be so mad because all my stuff would be ruined which I tried to keep my whole life I would be so MAD!. Also after when I was older I would complain maybe about what happened back them.

  85. Question four:

I think they upset her because she dose not see any thing wrong with any body that they wrote about. The things they wrote about to her are things that the teachers are suppose to be doing. Some of them are about her family. She feels the ones they wrote about her and her family the red people might come to her house. She feels they should not be writing that but she dose not want to disobey Chairmen Moa.

    1. I don't think that Ji-li is lucky he dad is doing hard stuff and her mom has a cold and her class stadis is bad. To me that is rilly bad luck. I fell bad for her. Her class might find out her class stadis and it will go down hill from there. She has a small chance though. when she went to see her dad the gard person said that all she has to do is talk to the and I think that it will be rilly hard to do that because you would have to tell on your parents for somthing that they did not do. She might even have to tell on her friends. To me she is to nice to do that but if she dosent it all will be bad.

  89. I think that think Ji-li's feelings about the whole communist party and the cultural revolution do change throughout the whole story. At first she thought of Chairman Mao as god, almost. But as the book progresses she starts to resent the whole thing. She doesn't like it one bit and I think she started to think it was unfair. She couldn't help what family she was born into. I think she starts to completely disagree with Mao and the red guards and everybody, but she doesn't say anything so she doesn't get in trouble.
