Welcome to Mrs. Woerner’s 7th and 8th Grade Social Studies! Seventh graders will focus on the Eastern Hemisphere (Africa, Asia, Australia, and Europe) from ancient civilizations to the present. Eighth graders will focus on United States' history from Revolution to Reconstruction. In addition to using course textbooks, we will also be using primary sources, activities, projects, videos, and readers’ theater to expand our understanding of history, geography, government, economics, and society.

3. I learned from the song Home Among the Gum Trees that There are many different styles of life and that in that song there are different reference to one!
4.I wasn't really here for the movie, I had to go to the nurse and then I was sick yesterday. I did however learn that people believed that they could stomp out the different ethnics by teaching them to act like whites. They think if they are taught and marry whites the color will disappear.

What I learned from the Gumtree Song was that many Aussie's take pride in their kangaroos, old style of life (clothesline) and their gumtrees. I know this because they keep repeating that in the chorus over and over again when someone asks him what his favorite place is.
I learned a couple things from Rabbit Proof Fence was that some people can be incredibly racist, and their minds are so clouded with the "pure white" that they don't even think about how the people are treated. I also think it is sad how they can't find the girls, why is it such a big deal anyway? They left because of Neville anyway! Also, they have their mind so set on pureness they just think color will go away, but it never will.

4. I learned that way back when, they took aboriginal girls and boys and trained them to be servants for whites living in Australia. I also learned that you need to have perseverance if you want something that is hard to get. It was a very good movie.

That the aborigines were treated different then American people because of their color. They had to live somewhere that it was really hot and whenever the children got tooken away they would hit their head with items and cry for a while. That whenever the children would run away to go home and they would send the tracker to go find them and when they got back they were whipped in a small room where it was really hot. And that they all had to take showers all at once.
