8th Grade SOS #5

The French had helped the Americans in their struggle for independence, so the French Revolution seemed to embody many of the ideals of the American Revolution.  By 1793, the French Revolution turned bloody with the execution of Louis XVI, Marie Antionette, and thousands of French citizens.  Click on the Guillotine website (http://www.theguillotine.info/facts/index.php) and read the FACTS as well as the TIMELINE information to review this event.  Then, return to the blog and reflect on the following question:

* In your opinion, what did the French Revolution have in common with the American Revolution?  Explain.

  1. 1. The French Revolution and the American Revolution are the same in many ways. Both of these Revolutions started as a result in a cause that has something to do with money. In the American Revolution, the taxes were a big part in what started the Revolution. In the French Revolution the government finance was what caused the uprising. Both of these Revolutions also had debt. French and American Revolution had the same type of idea about taxes. The "poor" people had more tax while people with higher authority didn't have as much to pay to the government. France is in the same position as Great Britain is:; both of those countries were the ones who enforced the tax laws and basically started stirring drama for a revolution.

  2. The French Revolution is there fight for there own independence just like the American Revolution for the Americans. The French had a leader like George Washington. His name was Antoine Louis. The nobles had to pay more taxes than all the other normal people because they had more money than all the other people. The nobles didn't have to go into the military either. The peasants were forced to go into the military just like in †he American Revolution.

  3. they had in common was there was death prices and there were laws, one was for the adoption and a man got his death because the man got his head cut off by a death toll where u put a persons head and the blade above and it comes down at a fast rate and then the head is cut off, and that is how the death toll works and have to be careful what you do so you don't end up at the death toll

  4. My opinion is that they both were in debt for awhile. They both didn't have to have the military services and the nobles did not have to do the tax's. The treaty of Compo was signed on October 17th and my opinion was that they had to pass over people and I didn't think that it was fair that every person didn't have to sign off on it.

  6. 1. In my opinion the french Revolution was similar to the American Revolution because there was a treaty before the revolution, which stated the war. Also because there was causes like The age of Enlightenment, The Reign of Terror, Storming of Basille, The Treaty of Campo Formio, and finally the first execution on the guillotine. All resulting in the Revolution. Just like the American Revolution.

  11. What I think they have in common is that they were fighting over the same thing. French Revolution they didn't want taxes. Americans didn't want to pay taxes either.
Making people pay tolls is like taxing them. Why should I have to pay just to go to the other side of the road? If I already payed for something why should I have to pay extra? That's what I think they have in common. If they didnt have to pay taxes or listen to a king the wars would have never broke out. They were treated unfairly.

  12. The french people didn't like the laws saying they couldn't hunt where they wanted or they had to be in the army. So they got angry that things weren't fair and they rebeled like the people in America. They also had problems with them taxing them because of the American Revolution like we didn't like the British taxing us.

People were not treated equally, the noble people were exempt from taxes, and they killed anybody that didn't obey him. Also, they were both caused due to the chaotic ways of the government.

  22. -In my opinion I thought they both involved France. The guiliotine was used in these times as well. They were both fighting against the government after being unfairly treated. Also they were both being unfairly taxed so they were both unhappy and fought against that too. They were both different but the same in many ways. It just shows how to opposite things can lead to the same problem.

  29. The French Revolution and the American revolution are the same in a lot of ways. Both wars had many people die with the battles going on all the time ans just people fighting in general. In both wars people had to pay lots of taxes. Not a lot of people were treated equally or were treated fairly. They would get killed if they didn't follow any rules which was unfair to many people. That's how the American Revolution and the French Revolution are the same.

  30. * In your opinion, what did the French Revolution have in common with the American Revolution? Explain.
The American and French revolution began because of the same reasons, being taxed on stuff that shouldn't have been taxed. The French's participation in the American revolution increased the debt. The poor people were treated bad, had to do military, couldn't fish or hunt and had to pay takes to the king, lord and church.

    1. The French and American Revolution were similar because of the unfair government, and the red coats were like the nobles. Since they had full authority over peasants. Also the colonist and the peasants both had to pay taxes to a higher power. Another similarity is that the colonist stormed a British fort, and the peasants stormed the Bastille prison. Also both revolutions were started by taxes and bad government. Lastly both the French Revolution and the American Revolution both overthrew the opposing government/leader.
